Today we started class by a few of my peers presenting their Black Businesses in Metro-Atlanta projects. I really enjoyed seeing and learning some of the Black Owned businesses in my area. Then, we watched a short film about Black Americans In Upperclass. We took a few notes on the video as we learned about different career paths and a look into some of the riches daily lifestyles.
Today’s lesson in Mar. Rease’s class was led by Ms. Cook again. We worked in our groups from yesterday to further analyze the story “Ambush.” We were given roles in our groups to further explore the story. I was the Travel Tracer. My job was to describe the setting of an important event from beginning to end. It was a bit challenging since the story pretty much takes place in one spot, but I think I worked hard to use different descriptive words for the setting.
After watching this film, I think the overall message was to not hide behind a mask, and to show your true self. At first, it seemed like the film was very dark and gloomy. Everyone was in masks, and not many people spoke or even interacted. It also looked like the girl in the film was very to herself. When her mask broke in the bathroom, it was almost as if she had gained more confidence and seemed brighter. She walked out of the bathroom with a smile, and when she went outside the sun was shining brightly from the change.
